The sinopie museum houses a unique collection, that of the preparatory drawings of the frescoes of the Campo Santo, the so-called sinopie. Made to never be seen again after the execution of the fresco, superimposed on them, they were in fact found only after the fire of 1944 which seriously damaged the Campo Santo.

This itinerary explores the role of the sinopie and puts into evidence the different styles of execution. After the museum of sinopie the tour continues in the Campo Santo cemetery where we concentrate on the most significant frescoes, whose restoration was completed only in 2018, as the famous 'Triumph of Death' by Bonamico Buffalmacco, the stories of the Old Testament created by Benozzo Gozzoli and the Theological Cosmology with which Piero di Puccio summarized the medieval vision of the cosmos.
