The Basilica of Santa Croce, one of the most important Franciscan churches in the world, is the burial place of some of Italy's most illustrious men including Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli, Leonardo Bruni and Gioacchino Rossini. A true "Temple of Italian Glory" as it was called by the poet Ugo Foscolo.

Our guided tour of Santa Croce starts in front of the neo-gothic facade, designed by Niccolò Matas. Inside the visit focuses on the most important funeral monuments, on the Peruzzi and Bardi chapels frescoed by Giotto and his collaborators and the adjacent Sacristy embellished with works by the Giotto school. The visit continues with the Cappella dei Pazzi, Brunelleschi's masterpiece of great beauty, and some works kept in the museum of Santa Croce, such as the Crucifix of Cimabue or the Last Supper of Taddeo Gaddi.
