Of the historical need to stay in the shadow of the three great competitors - Pisa, Siena and Florence - Lucca has made a virtue: instead of unlikely victories in war, Lucca has in fact always focused on prosperity through the production of silk and trade. The city that gave birth to Luigi Boccherini, Alfredo Catalani and Giacomo Puccini presents itself today with a historic center among the best preserved in all of Tuscany and today boasts events such as Lucca Comics and the Lucca Summer Festival which annually hosts world famous musicians such as Eric Clapton, BB King, Joe Cocker, Mark Knopfler, Sting or Elton John.

We start our the guided tour of Lucca on the beautiful tree-lined walls that characterizes this charming town. The first destination of the guided tour is the Cathedral which houses the famous Volto Santo and the splendid marble funeral monument of Ilaria del Carretto created by Jacopo della Quercia. Walking through the medieval alleys you will reach the majestic Guinigi Tower, true symbol of Lucca. A few steps from here is the famous Piazza Anfiteatro, by many considered to be the most beautiful square of Lucca. Passing by the church of San Frediano, you arrive at Piazza San Michele where the tour ends.
