The villa della Petraia is one of the most important Medici villas, a typical suburban residence where the grand dukes of the De 'Medici family could retire from court life. Located on the slopes of Monte Morello in a panoramic position of great charm, it boasts a terraced garden that has kept its original appearance in great lines.

The visit starts from the lower terrace with the parterre of box hedges of geometric shapes, typical of the Italian garden. Through the intermediate level, called 'Plan of the Nursery' you reach the so-called lawn of the figurine that takes its name from the figure of Fiorenza or Venus, today preserved inside the villa. It then continues with the internal visit of the villa that looks very similar to the period when Petraia was the favorite home of Rosa Vercellana, countess of Mirafiori, the morganatic wife of Vittorio Emanuele II.
