Montepulciano - classic tour

  • walking tour

  • partially accessible

Montepulciano, a village built on the "Mons Politianus,” owes its modern appearance not only to the Middle Ages but also to the Renaissance, as we see from the numerous churches and palaces built by Antonio da Sangallo and Michelozzo. In the numerous cellars of Montepulciano that form a real underground city, the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano matures, a red wine made from Sangiovese grapes that does not fear comparison with its Tuscan brothers, Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino.

We begin our visit at the foot of the village, with the sanctuary of the Madonna of San Biagio, then by bus or car, we reach one of the two entrance doors to the village, from where our walk to Piazza Grande begins with the Duomo, the Palazzo Municipal and the Palazzo Nobili Tarugi.
